In April I wrote about my experience with the Birchbox. I was a very satisfied customer! When my May Birchbox arrived, I was left feeling very underwhelmed. Even though the subscription costs only $10, I didn’t necessarily feel I got my money’s worth in May. It did include some great hand lotion (Ahava hand cream) and a full-size eyeshadow from Stila, but I wasn’t fond of the color. I decided that if I wasn’t satisfied with June’s box I would end my subscription… I don’t really miss $10 a month, but money is tight and I don’t need a bunch of unused beauty products sitting around cluttering my bathroom.
Fast forward to today. I received an email on Tuesday letting me know that my Birchbox had shipped. The email described the products in June’s box as “travel-ready” and, as always, said the box could take 10 days to ship. The “travel-ready” description piqued my interest because I’m leaving for the beach tomorrow. I am trying to pack lightly so I won’t have to check a bag, but that task is proving to be a very difficult one. It’s impossible to find all of my favorite products in the airline approved size and my makeup bag is too large to fit in a carry-on suitcase. I literally sat down last night and had to choose which eyeshadow, blush, and mascaras I could fit into my travel-size makeup bag… It felt like my personal version of Sophie’s Choice. Today I go to check my mail and to my surprise, my Birchbox had already arrived!
As the title of this entry suggests, I am thrilled with my Birchbox this month. The box contains five items that all stick with the “travel-ready” theme. The box includes: a sample of Kate Spade “Twirl” perfume; Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Lotion (this product isn’t even in stores yet!); Laura Geller Baked Blush N’ Brighten (a FULL-SIZE version!); Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe Self Tanner; and Herban Essentials Orange Towelettes. I am much more familiar with the products and brands this month as opposed to April and May.
As you can tell, I’m super satisfied with Birchbox this time around. They’re not always going to send my favorite products, but it has been a blast trying all of the unfamiliar ones! I still highly suggest ordering a Birchbox for yourself: http://www.birchbox.com/. Happy shopping!
