Since Valentine’s Day is Friday, I thought I’d dedicate an entire post to date night beauty routine (discussed briefly here). We honestly don’t go out often because our schedules differ and there’s not much to do in our small town (I’ll pass on Applebee’s and the bug-infested movie theater). When we have “date night” we drive about 45 minutes out of town… it’s an event! Weekdays are monotonous so I enjoy any chance to spice things up. Here are a few ideas to shake up your date night beauty routine:
Eye makeup: A smoky eye is an adventurous way to step out of your makeup comfort zone. Almay has a great smoky eye shadow trio designed for your specific eye color. It’s only $6.99 and instructs you where to apply each color. Super simple!
Although it seems intimidating, eyeliner provides a sultry, date night appropriate look. I find liquid liner easier to apply (and remove) than pencil liner. You don’t have to do the Amy Winehouse look- a little goes a long way.
Mascara makes eyes “pop.” My all-time favorite is Maybelline’s Falsies but any mascara looks great if you curl your lashes first. Sonia Kashuk (sold at Target) makes a fantastic eye lash curler.
Face: Two of my favorite products, NARS blush (in Orgasm) and Benefit’s High Beam can give you a date night glow. NARS Orgasm is iconic and works on EVERYONE. Benefit’s High Beam is called “supermodel in a bottle”- use it to highlight cheeks and brow bones. While neither product is budget-friendly, they’re both worth every penny. Your date will think so, too!
Lips: You’re never fully dressed without lipstick! I think red lipstick is glamorous, so it’s my go-to shade. My boyfriend loves it, too. I have 8 shades of red (I’m a hoarder) but my current favorites are Maybelline’s Red Revival and YSL’s Blood Red. Perfect shades for Valentine’s Day! If you wear a bold lip, I suggest first applying primer. My favorite is Too Faced Lip Insurance… with it, your lipstick stays put through cocktails, dinner, and whatever else you have planned for the evening! 😉
Fragrance: Everyone has a signature scent (mine is Chanel Chance). I could bathe in that perfume. It’s too strong to be work-appropriate but perfect for a night out. Avoid rubbing your wrists together as it changes the scent. Instead, spray your inner arm area or behind the ears. And remember: less is more!
Rock stilettos, lipstick, and your favorite perfume, and enjoy your special night!
