I co-host an exercise class Tuesday and Thursday nights for my coworkers. Last night we did a circuit workout so I brought weights from home. I carried my giant purse, a bag with a change of clothes, and another bag with 20 pounds of weights across the newly blacktopped parking lot. It was over 90 degrees. My makeup melted off my face. And that’s when I realized I hate summer.
I don’t really hate summer, but I’m not a fan of the hot temperatures (unless I’m floating in the pool and drinking a cold beer). Because every day can’t be that glorious, here are a few summery products that help make the season a little easier:
BB Cream or Primer: If you plan on wearing foundation, you’re going to have to prime it- it won’t survive the high humidity. Thankfully, many BB creams provide adequate coverage and can be worn alone. My favorites are Garnier and Stila.
Eye shadow primer: Hotter temps will cause eye shadow to crease, especially if it’s a cheaper brand. I love elf’s eyeshadow primer– and it’s only $3.00!
Waterproof mascara: Sweat rolling into your eyes is a real thing. At least keep your mascara from smearing.
Highlighter: Highlighter gives you a dewy, glowing look. I recently purchased the Sonia Kashuk Highlighting Stick– a new makeup bag staple!
Bronzer: I obsessively apply sunscreen on my face but miss that sun-kissed glow. Bronzer is a safe way to achieve it. I love Stila’s One Step, Wet n Wild’s Mega Glo (in drugstores), and Laura Geller’s Blush-n-Brighten.
Sunless Tanner: See above. I don’t have a favorite brand, so I’m open to suggestions.
Suncreen: I got entirely too much sun on my back over the weekend because I’m an idiot and don’t heed my own advice. Wear sunscreen. It’s important.
Cooling face wipes: Yes To Cucumber Towelettes are a great way to wash off makeup and sweat!
