OMG TGIF. I’m so grateful it’s Friday that I can’t type real words.
Who am I to give advice, right? I need these reminders more than anyone. Life is complicated and messy and it’s easy to forget what’s important.
As a reminder to MYSELF, here’s a list of things we all need to remember:
Write letters. Some things just can’t be said via email or text message. Hand-written notes and cards mean more to me than gifts, and I keep almost every single one. Something as simple as Jason writing “I love you” on a post-it note can brighten even the darkest day. Take time to show someone you care, that you’re sorry, or that you were thinking of them. Buy a nice pack of stationery and send some snail mail. Nothing is more thoughtful!
Wash off your makeup every night. Sleeping without washing off your makeup can cause breakouts, dullness, and your skin to age prematurely. Yuck. It can be such a pain, especially when you’re exhausted (or had too much wine!), but take the time to care for your face! Don’t forget to moisturize!
Walk. Walking will always be my favorite form of exercise. It’s peaceful and wonderful and you get to enjoy beautiful scenery! Walking is not only good for lowering blood pressure, maintaining (and lowering) body weight, but it’s also good for mental well-being. When I’ve had a terrible day at work, I race home, throw my stuff on the floor, and change into my workout clothes. Sometimes I do all of the above without speaking to Jason (I think he prefers it some days). After I walk for at least 30 minutes, I feel like a new person. Invest in some good walking shoes, a better sports bra, and enjoy yourself!

Enjoy yourself. Life gets in the way. Some days follow a crazy regiment and you might feel like you’re drowning. We’ve all been there. But, as we all know, life is short. Eat that piece of cake. Drink that glass of wine. Buy the shoes. Stay up too late. Build a fort in the living room for movie night. Play hooky. Step out of your comfort zone. Laugh. If you’re a worrier like me, this is probably the hardest step.
Be grateful and show love every day. Jobs are difficult, bills must be paid, cars break down, and we don’t get enough sleep. It’s always something. Take a deep breath and look around you. There’s always something for which to be thankful. Exhibit gratitude and love.
Have a fabulous weekend! What would you add to the list?
