Linking up with sweet Emily from the Ember Grey Blog for Grateful Heart Monday.
Do you guys remember the song from the early 2000s called Steal My Sunshine? The song makes little sense, but I heard it at a restaurant yesterday and haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. If you recall, it is a catchy, summery, breezy song. The line, “So I missed a million miles of fun…” is repeated a few times throughout. That’s the line that stuck with me.
Do you feel like you’re missing all the fun in your life?
The past few weeks have been exhausting and long. Most days I’m on the computer from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm- that’s a work day, then on to blogging, freelancing, etc. I’ve not had time for much else. I workout, cook dinner with Jason and try to watch a bit of television while writing. There’s certainly not been time for fun. This weekend, Jason and I decided to change that.
We went to Louisville, stayed with friends, visited our favorite restaurants, and tried some new ones along the way. We had chips and guacamole outside at a table with a built-in fire. We cheered the Wildcats on to another SEC win. Our friend cooked us a delicious breakfast Sunday morning and we took a few mile walk in one of Louisville’s renowned parks. We drove around house-hunting and drinking coffee. We ate sushi for lunch and brownies for dinner. We enjoyed the fall-like temperatures. We laughed.
I am tired today and my house is a mess (I usually spend weekends cleaning). But I am beyond grateful for the weekend. I am grateful for people who realize I needed a little fun in my life. I’m grateful for the fall weather and the ability to let loose.
We get so lost in the hustle of busting our butts and trying to be perfect that we forget to enjoy the moment. I’m grateful that for once, I did just that.
What are you grateful for today?
