Welcome back to the grind! Hope you all had great Christmas weekend! I was not ready for Monday morning. How did a long weekend seem so short?!
We had a relaxing, wonderful few days with my family- it was heaven. We came home Saturday night to quiet and it was such a change from the laughter and chaos from the previous days! There’s always something a bit sad about the post-holiday quiet; seems to be the only time you appreciate the hustle and bustle of the past couple of months. Silence can be deafening, and I find it to be especially loud after Christmas.
I had to work for a few hours on Wednesday but left as soon as possible so I could spend the day with my family. Jason and I exchanged presents before we headed to my hometown; it was great to have a few uninterrupted minutes to ourselves. We spent the evening with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It’s our tradition to draw names for our gift exchange and we always begin with reading the story of the Lord’s birth- it’s so important to remember the reason for the season! Christmas Eve is my absolute favorite… I almost love it more than Christmas morning. We ended the night with my Dad reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to my niece and her leaving cookies for Santa (she thought he needed several).
My niece woke us up at 6:30 Christmas morning, and there was little objection from the rest of us! She ran down the hall yelling “wow” to everything she saw… it’s something I will never forget! We cooked a delicious breakfast, opened gifts, and played games the rest of Christmas Day.
I packed up all of my decorations on Sunday; it was sad, but I’m ready to redecorate our house! We received several Lowe’s gift cards for Christmas and are excited to repaint a few rooms. I also ordered chalk paint so I can redo a few pieces of furniture. Let the renovating begin!
Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

I’m beyond grateful for the beautiful memories made this year! What are your favorite Christmas memories?
