Checking in quickly this week: I’m spending entirely too much on the computer at work and writing at night is cutting into my time with Jason. My brain is over-stimulated and I need to cut back. Anyone else?
As I discussed a few posts ago, it’s important to clean out your makeup bag. I also discussed how vital it is to wash and care for your makeup brushes in order to avoid bacteria and blemishes. Honestly, I don’t wash my brushes as often as I should. It can be a pain in the butt and I don’t have enough time for them to dry during the week. However, if I’m going to invest a lot of money on makeup brushes, I want to care for them properly. I found a simple and efficient tutorial on Pinterest that uses supplies you have at home.
2/3 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
1/2 Teaspoon Dawn Dish Soap (the original blue kind)
Measuring Cup (2 cup)
I poured the vinegar and and Dawn in the measuring cup and filled to top with hot water. I placed the brushes (brush side down- duh) in the measuring cup and let soak for 10 minutes; I even threw my Beauty Blender in there. After soaking, I rinsed brushes with cold water until the water ran clear. After they were clean I placed them on a paper towel to dry.
I’ve used several brush cleansers (currently use this from Ulta), but this concoction legitimately worked. There was less work involved here, too- you simply soak and rinse and there was no scrubbing involved. My brushes are squeaky clean!

Have you ever tried this method? How do you wash your brushes?
