I sincerely doubt that when Target teamed up with Lilly Pulitzer it could foresee the drama it would cause. I imagine their intention was to drum up excitement for a company that had fallen on hard times, but, from the very moment the collaboration was announced, people (mostly women) took to social media in some form to scrutinize every single facet. First, some ridiculous humans complained that the brand could now be purchased by “poor people.” Then, once it launched, people again took to Twitter and Facebook to rip those who bought it, those who hated it, those who liked it, those who thought of buying it, those who DIDN’T think of buying it, those who were named Lilly, those who wear pink, etc. Some didn’t care. Some had never heard of Lilly. Some camped out at Target overnight. Whatever happened to free to be you and me? Have you ever seen anything stir such a bullshit reaction? And I think that’s a problem.
This is what gets us talking? This divides our gender? Reasonably-priced resort wear?
