Beauty A-Z has eight more weeks! I’ve had fun with this series, and hope you’ve enjoyed reading. For R, I’m discussing my makeup routine.
I’m always amazed by those who get ready and out the door in five minutes. I wasn’t blessed with that ability- as I stated last week, this introvert needs the few hours in the morning to herself. And I wasn’t blessed with gorgeous, thick hair. It takes work and requires a wash every day. I digress. My makeup routine is fairly quick and simple, though I do take longer on my eye makeup than normal people. I cannot perfect winged eyeliner on a first try.
My every day routine:
I start by applying primer/cc cream/et al. My current base is, you guessed it, BareMinerals Complexion Rescue. I’m obsessed with this in case you haven’t read my last 100 posts. This is not sponsored material, but I do think BareMinerals should give me a cut… Anyway, this takes the place of primer and moisturizer for me most days.
Then I move on to eyes. This is where it gets complicated. I apply concealer under my eyes (my favorite is Maybelline Age Rewind) and blend as needed. If you suffer with allergies as I do, you know what it’s like to wake up with dark circles and bags, no matter how much sleep you got the night before. I then color in and shape my brows. I don’t spend a lot of time here, but do use two products: The Balm Eyebrow Powder and Anastasia Eyebrow Gel.
Before applying eyeshadow, I use Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer. Yes, this is the bomb and worth the price. I currently use the Smashbox Eye Palette- I probably will purchase the Naked palette once this is out, but got it for 40% off through Birchbox!
I do winged liner every day. I’m thinking of toning it down a bit but I absolutely love the look. I’ve gone back to my old faithful NYX Black liquid liner. I’d rather use a felt-tipped eyeliner pencil, but I haven’t found one I LOVE. After my liner dries, I work on my lashes. I ALWAYS curl first; to me, there’s no point if you skip this step! I use Maybelline Falsies every day… in case you’re new around here!
Time for my face! I like a lot of foundations, but I’ve never found one I love. I’m debating springing for the MUFE or a MAC, but for now I’m using Urban Decay Naked Powder because liquid feels too heavy as the temperature heats up. After that I do blush. Blush is one of my favorite products, and my current go-to is Hikari; I received it in last month’s Ipsy and I think it’s a great summer shade!
I always set my makeup with setting powder, and switch between the super cheap Essence It’s All About Matt and NARS Loose Powder. I finish that off with Too Faced Candlelight- my skin is dull and I need to fake a glow! And, because it’s humid as the pits of hell in our office, I now finish it all off with Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray. That stuff is liquid gold.

It seems like a lot when I type it out… but promise it doesn’t take that long. I wanted step-by-step pictures to accompany this post, but there’s not a lot of light at 5:00 am!
Now let me hear from you: how does your routine differ from mine? Are you a gal who is out the door in 5 minutes? What products do you use every day?
