We made it to Friday! Pour yourself a celebratory drink for that, friends!
Before we get started:
Don’t forget our third installment of the Beautiful Mess linkup is Monday! The prompt is “Release your Expectation of Perfection.” I have so enjoyed reading all the posts from last time and hope you’ll join us again! We’re currently working on prompts for August and I’m so excited for what we have in store! Thank you again to those who linked up and everyone who supports it!
I’ve worked with some awesome ladies lately and would love for you to check out some guest posts. Yesterday I took over Ember Grey to discuss my favorite splurge vs steal products, I co-hosted the Awesome linkup with Anne from Love the Here and Now on Tuesday, and tomorrow I’m being interviewed by Alanna from Alanna and Company! I am always grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing and talented women.
Today I’m discussing bronzer for the fair-skinned gal. I tan really well but almost never allow my face to get color. I have dark spots from my younger, dumber days spent in the tanning bed and don’t want to look like a leather purse. So instead of baking in the sun this time of year, I apply a little bronzer.
When I decided to try contouring I watched a lot of YouTube videos and but never came across anyone who matched my skin tone. The products mentioned were always entirely too dark for my light skin and I knew there was no natural way to replicate the look. Since looking like an Oompa Loompa is not really my thing, I started searching for bronze and contouring shades that would give me a more natural look. Keep in mind that it’s best to go only one to two shades darker than your natural color!
Below are products I have found work for me. I prefer matte for contouring purposes but for every day wear, I like shimmer. I’ll even use the shimmer products as blush for added radiance! When not contouring, I apply bronzer (the shimmer brick versions) to the bridge of my nose, around my hairline, and as highlight for my cheekbones. It gives the natural sun-kissed look without the damage.
Note: the Wet n Wild product below has been a makeup bag staple for me since high school. I am NEVER without it! It’s hard to believe something under $5 could be that good, but it really is. My sisters swear by it, too.
Also, Nina wrote a great post on summertime makeup for the pale girl this week- we were definitely on the same page and she has some fantastic suggestions! Go check it out!
Do you wear bronzer? What are your favorite brands?
