Whew, so there you have it Bourbon & Lipstick readers, a sneak peek into my MAC collection. I use to be the type of girl that needed to get my hands on every item from all limited edition collections but over the past 2 or so years I have drastically reduced my make up collection to only the necessities and maybe a few other goodies 😉 Do you have a favorite MAC product? I would love to know!
Since I’m relaxing on the beach, I have a few guest posts lined up for you this week! I have some go-to beauty and product bloggers, and Kerri from Hey Kerri just so happens to be one! She is smart, creative, hilarious, and would no doubt rival me in the sassy department. She’s no one trick pony though: Kerri shares amazing blogging tips, topics on health, and, as one of my Beautiful Mess co-hosts, wrote one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever read in the blog world. Once you read it (and see the picture) I know you will love her, too. Take it away, girlfriend!
Hey Bourbon & Lipstick readers! I’m Kerri and I blog over at Hey Kerri Blog where I ramble about all of the crazy thoughts and ideas that pop into my head. Things like: drugstore lipsticks you need to try, blogging topics and so much more. Oh and each Friday I host a Fri-YAY series where I share my random thoughts, posts you might have missed from that week as well as my favorite reads from other bloggers!
I’m so excited that Lindsay is allowing me to guest post here on her blog. Did you know that she is actually my long lost Kentuckian sister? Seriously, it’s so amazing to finding a blogging girlfriend that just gets you. One day we will meet and chat about all things beauty over wine and it will be amazing. Speaking of makeup, since that’s one of Lindsay’s featured topics, I figured why not share with you all some of my favorite MAC Cosmetics products?!
Before the Urban Decay Naked Palette craze, MAC eye shadows were the bee’s knees in the makeup world. The great thing about MAC eye shadows is you can buy them single panned then purchase a palette to make your own eye shadow quad on the go! They have a bunch of different shades/finishes and if you’re a natural color gal like myself, then have plenty of neutrals to pick from!
Paint Pot: Most people are able to use MAC Paint Pot’s as an eye shadow base but unfortunately I have super oily lids so I need to use a primer beneath them. Bare Study is the perfect champagne shimmery color that you can effortlessly apply all over your lid when you don’t want to spend a lot of time doing your make up because the product on it’s own is great. I also love wearing Constructivist (the dark brown paint pot) on it’s own with some heavy mascara, such a great and easy look!
Mineralize Skinfinsh: Soft & Gentle MSF by MAC is definitely one of their most popular items I think. This has been my go-to highlighter for quite some time now but you do need to be careful when using this product because it’s super easy to end up looking like a disco ball. Trust me on this one, I’m speaking from experience here! MSF’s are a little pricey but they last a super long time so I don’t mind forking out the extra dollars.
Studio Fix Fluid / Pro Longwear Concealer: Are you looking for the fullest of coverage that will last all day? Then you need to try MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid foundation paired with their Pro Longwear Concealer. Seriously, these two products do not budge! I have super oily skin and have trouble finding a foundation that doesn’t “melt” halfway through the day and I can honestly say that I’ve worn this combination for well over twelve hours before and my makeup still looked flawless when it was time to remove it.
Blush: I can take or leave most MAC blushes but one I can not live without, especially in the summer time, is their Cremeblend Blush in Lady Blush. It is the perfect everyday shade and lasts all day.
Brows: For the longest time now, I’ve actually been using a MAC’s Brown Down eye shadow to fill in my eyebrows and love the outcome. I use a small angled brush to apply the powder and it works perfectly.
MAC lipsticks are definitely my favorite products that MAC sells (I think it’s because of the amazing vanilla scent they have) but it can be extremely overwhelming going into a store since they have about 900 shades. Okay maybe that’s exaggerating a little bit but they do have quite a few. The great thing about MAC lipsticks is that their colors are separated into finishes, making it easier to narrow down the options. My personal favorite is Cremesheen, the finish offers great color pay off but is also very rich and you guessed it, creamy – making the color non drying with a glossy-like finish.
A few of my favorite MAC lipstick shades are: Creme Cup, Rebel, Myth and Girl About Town
I’m dying to get my hands on Ruby Woo, Up The Amp and Vegas Volt!
