Do you ever feel like your whole life is a Pinterest fail? I like to say that Pinterest ain’t nothin’ but the devil: it makes me want to bake treats smothered in Nutella and Cookie Butter, makes me want to replace our current kitchen counter tops with marble and paint the entire house white, and makes me want to take out a loan for my fall clothing budget. It’s inspired lots of delicious dinners and DIY projects, but many times it makes me feel stressed. My life is FAR from Pinterest perfect and never will be! Even though I’m a neat freak, our house will always be messy. I don’t have an endless supply of white sweaters and rugs. I don’t keep truffle oil or the tears of a hummingbird on hand. I just don’t.
Does any site (aside from Victoria’s Secret!) cause more feelings of inadequacy than Pinterest? Even I fall into the “everything must be white and pristine and picturesque” trap. In spite of all its faults, I still spend hours pinning and normally come away with inspiration. It’s a great tool for everyone.
Some of our meal staples come from Pinterest, but every time I try to bake a recipe I find, I destroy it. I’m not a baker! Here’s what happened when I tried to bake puffins (pancake muffins):
Puffin recipe and reasonable photo from here. The chocolate chips exploded out of my puffins- into the muffin tin and the oven. FAIL.
Festive Wine Glass
