Happy September! I’m once again joining Anne for The Awesome linkup! I did not have an awesome day yesterday, so I hope this pulls me out of my funk. What a happy way to start a new month!
Fall Blog Swap:
I’ve teamed up with some awesome ladies to co-host a fall-themed swap! I participated in one last year and it was great- such a fun way to celebrate the beginning of the season. You can send any fall-themed product you’d like: last year I received a Starbucks gift card, pumpkin-shaped wine stopper, and other festive gifts! There’s lots of room for creativity- scarves, fall makeup, pumpkin-scented candles, coffee, candy, the list goes on! So please join, make a new friend, and celebrate the season! It’s open to everyone (non-bloggers included). Sign ups end September 15th and you’ll be paired with partners quickly. Boxes must be shipped by October 1st, and we’ll have a reveal linkup October 15th! Sign up here: http://goo.gl/forms/38wsxocOHK
I love attending the late-summer and fall festivals in our region. I found a list of weekend festivals last week and told J I want to go to as many as possible! This weekend we attended the Highlands Fest and Louisville Zombie Walk- a Halloween-ish event with plenty of pumpkin beer, food, crafts, and zombies to go around. The Kentucky Bourbon Festival is a in a few weeks… it’s a must-do for us!
I was on the search over the weekend for some new fall lipstick shades and of course bought more than I intended. I couldn’t wait to do my makeup yesterday morning! Am I the only one who loves trying a product for the first time?
Part of me feels embarrassed that I decorate my planner with stickers. The other part of me feels it’s insanely therapeutic. I’ll take the latter. Wine stickers are my new favorite thing (aside from actual wine, of course).
How many times can I type the word “fall” in one post?! I love tv and can’t wait for some of my favorite shows to start over the next few weeks. You’re the Worst starts September 9th (if you haven’t watched this show, you’re missing out!), The Affair begins October 4th (another must-see), The Mindy Project starts September 15th (thank you, Hulu!), and we’re going to start Homeland and The Wire. Thankfully we have a little time left with Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex, otherwise it’s Cheers and Seinfeld reruns for us.
I ordered a bundle of Lara Casey Powersheets last week on recommendation from Anne. My work duties doubled recently and I’m struggling to goal-set and prioritize out of the office, i.e., I want to drink wine and watch Netflix the minute I walk in the door. I’m a list-maker and hope writing down my goals will help me achieve them faster.
J and I have been super busy and the state of our house reflects it. I spent some time scrubbing the kitchen and bathroom this weekend, but the living room and office look like Tropical Storm Erika made her way to Kentucky. I am a neat-freak, but cleaning and organizing is at the bottom of my priority list. But. I cannot concentrate in chaos. I have to keep at least one space in the house spotless and clutter-free. Luckily, that space is our bedroom. I wash the sheets every Sunday and make the bed every day, even if it’s right before I crawl in at night. Everyone needs a calming space.
We inquired about a couple of houses in Louisville this weekend. I’m growing impatient as we try to make our way to the “big” city. There are several projects I want to do at our house but am hesitant- who knows how much longer we’ll be here? J said that we should enjoy this house while we are here, so I’ve decided to create a private office space for me. I’m excited for this project and can’t wait to share my before and after!
Football starts this weekend and I’m a little pumped! I participated in my first fantasy draft Sunday night, and even though I have NO clue what I’m doing, I’m excited to make some new friends. If only we could all tailgate together… Can’t wait to beat all of you!
Meeting other bloggers:
A few weeks ago, I had coffee with Brittany from The Lady Lawyer. I was suffering from the bourbon flu but I still managed to enjoy myself and we had lots in common! One of the things that keeps me interested in blogging is meeting the wonderful women who I’d likely never meet if it weren’t for my hobby. I also had the opportunity to get to know Llinos from The Lilac Linnet. She was gracious enough to let me post her interview after her sponsorship ended because she’s that kind of lady. She’s incredibly sweet, bright, talented, and is working hard to get herself out there! She writes about blogging, painting, travel, and everything in between!
And, because I’m long-winded today, here’s an Urban Decay Smoky Palette and $25 PayPal cash giveaway for your troubles!
Thank you for joining us today! What’s awesome in your life this week?
