Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a busy week around here and I’m very excited for a low-key(ish) weekend. October-January are hectic months in these parts: today is my brother’s birthday, next weekend is Halloween, the weekend after is my sister’s bridal shower and bachelorette party, my dad’s birthday is the week after that, then Thanksgiving, my sister’s wedding, my mom’s birthday, grandfather’s birthday, Christmas, New Year’s, and my sister’s birthday the second week of January. Needless to say, I don’t have a lot of extra time right now! Add in work, life, and blogging, and I’m losing my mind.
I don’t normally write posts like these but I think they’re fun, especially after Pamela and Laura did it! It’s my favorite season and it goes by way too fast. I haven’t even watched Hocus Pocus or The Great Pumpkin yet!
Favorite Candle Scent: I love all of the toddy, caramel, and pumpkin scents this time of year, but our favorite is Flannel from Bath and Body Works. I hoarded up so I could get us through the season because they sell out quickly! Luckily, Walmart now sells a Flannel dupe for $5!
Best Fragrance for Fall: I always go back to Chanel, but I do like the YSL Black Opium (which I received for free from Influenster). It has notes of coffee and vanilla which makes it perfect for fall!
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate? I drink coffee and tea daily but enjoy a hot chocolate every now and then!
Favorite Thanksgiving Food: everything. I really love homemade stuffing and my mom’s mashed potatoes. My sister is getting married the week after Thanksgiving and to fit in my dress I’m going to have to take it easy this year!
Best Fall Memory? Attending Court Day is one of my favorite memories! The smells, the sights, the fried Oreos- all scream fall to me. I remember driving home for fall break when I was in college and passing several of the food vendors on 64. It was such a warm feeling! This past weekend the weather was perfect!
Favorite Pie: pumpkin! I could eat it year-round.
Most Worn Sweater: I mix it up between my many cardigans and a black turtleneck sweater because it goes with everything.
What is Autumn like where you live? It’s different every day. It was super cool over the weekend with highs in the low 50s, but this week has been above-average with temps in the high 70s! I am having trouble knowing what to wear and my allergies are out of control. I’m ready for cooler weather.
Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Football games, though we haven’t attended any this year. Really I just like tailgating. As if I needed an excuse to drink at 9:00 am…
What song really gets you in the fall spirit? This will sound so weird, but, The Monster Mash. Did you hear it on The Mindy Project last week? I thought that was hilarious!
Which makeup trend: Dark lips or winged liner? I do both. No shame! I’m obsessed with the NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies!
Is pumpkin spice worth all the hype? I love pumpkin, but hate pumpkin spice. Weird?
Favorite fall tv show? I’m only watching two shows currently: The Affair and Jane the Virgin. Both so good!
Combat boots or Uggs? Combat boots. I may be the only woman who doesn’t own a pair of Uggs.
Skinny jeans or leggings? Leggings. If I’m going to have to wear “pants” they’re going to be comfortable.
Halloween: Yay or Nay? Yay! Halloween changes over the years, right? My sorority always had the most kick-ass Halloween party. Last year J and I watched Dracula at the Actor’s Theater and it was a blast! This year I may go home and go trick-or-treating with my niece, if she’ll dress up! She’s being a bit of stinker and they’re struggling to find a costume she likes… She’s a diva at 2!
Thoughts on Black Friday? I have never shopped on Black Friday. I prefer shopping from the comfort of my couch anyway- braless, and drinking wine.
Fall mornings or evenings? Both. Because we’re surrounded by distilleries, we can smell bourbon on crisp mornings. And evenings are for bonfires and hot toddies. What a magical season.
One fall 2015 trend you’re loving: I’m digging the blanket scarves, boots, and bold lips. Can we wear these year-round?!
