Did you know I co-hosted a fall swag swap? Not sure I talked about it enough. 😉 I participated in one last year and thought it was a great way to kick off the season. When no one was hosting this year, I decided to do it myself, with the help of Jasmine, Sheryl, Meagan, Amy, and Kerri! It wasn’t perfect (my fault), but I did meet some new bloggers and learned a couple of valuable lessons:
When creating a Google Doc, always, ALWAYS ask for email addresses.
Put your email address on your blog and make it easy to find. It took me HOURS one night to track down the emails of the other bloggers, and some were not published on the site at all! I get that you don’t want to make yourself reachable to every crazy person on the planet, but, you have a blog. So. If you don’t want to broadcast your personal email, create an address for your blog! And put it on your “Contact Me” page (or your equivalent). It’s not something I ever thought a lot about but it is a necessity. Also, make sure your email address is current and correct. I’m not trying to be ugly- this is a PSA.
Now that that’s out of the way…
I paired myself with Liz from Baby Got B.A. I tried to match each person with a blogger I didn’t think they knew so everyone could meet some new friends… I probably wasn’t 100% successful, but I did try to make this a good experience for everyone! Liz was an amazing partner and sent the coolest themed gifts that were packaged beautifully! I wish I would have taken pictures of the wrapping, but I was too excited to dig in!
I received a fall-scented candle, pumpkin spice M&Ms, the best wine-themed dish towels, a sexy, dark nail polish, a maple stout cupcake kit, and the cutest measuring spoons of all time. I’ve toyed with having a beer-tasting party for years, and think the cupcakes would make the perfect party snack!
Liz clearly put a lot of thought into everything, and I’m grateful to have met a new blogging friend!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who participated. In the words(ish) of Fleetwood Mac: You make bloggin’ fun.
I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I did!
Have you ever joined a swag swap?
