I prefer InLinkz for my link-up needs. It’s not perfect, but I think the interface is fairly simple.
First, you’ll have to create an account. You can choose the free account or purchase a subscription. It’s cheap- currently only $1.99 per month! You don’t need the paid subscription, but without it, you will not get thumbnail links. I’m more likely to click on an image or photo than a link.
Start by clicking “Create a new link-up”:
Add your information, including link-up name:
Edit your date in the duration section. Your options are broad here: the link-up can run for one day or until your account expires.
And you have control over display options:
I ignore the “Voting Options” section as I don’t utilize it in my link-ups.
And the rest:
One of the things I love about InLinkz is that they generate the code for you, and will specify it to your platform.
If you are self-hosted through WordPress, you will have to add the InLinkz plugin. It’s free and easy to install, but it’s required before hosting!
Hosting a link-up with other bloggers? It’s easy to share the code!
Super simple, right?
Another important part of link-ups is the button. Bloggers are all about images, so it’s important to have one ready before you promote. And, of course, you’ll want the bloggers who link-up to have something to share on their blogs! If you’re not sure how to create a shareable button, you’re in luck! Check out my tutorial on creating a grab button here.
Promotion is key in creating a successful link-up. Reach out to other bloggers and market on your social media channels a few weeks before you go live. Organized bloggers like to plan their posts weeks beforehand! I am not one of these people, but I hear they exist…
On that note, don’t forget Brittany and I are hosting a Blogger Christmas Cookie Exchange link-up on December 4th! Hope you’ll join us!
Are you looking for new prompts and to meet new bloggers? Four of my sponsors this month host link-ups:
Anne hosts The Awesome Link-Up the first Tuesday of every month.
Kels hosts The Secret Blogger Club every Thursday.
Allison hosts In vs. Out again on Friday, November 27th.
Lots of great options from some of my favorites!
Have you ever created a link-up? Which link-up tool do you use?
Go check out Anne’s thoughts!
