This has been the week of lists for me. End of the year? Out of ideas? I’ll never tell.
First off, can we talk about how Monica and Chandler might be dating in real life?! It’s probably not true, but I will pretend anyway.
Did you catch my holiday makeup post on Ember Grey yesterday? I really want to do more beauty posts, but I do not get home before the sun goes down. I have a tutorial and product review ready to go but they need pictures! Oh, the problems of bloggers.
I had some interesting post choices this week: Things that Need to go away in 2016; Ranking the Boyfriends of Rory Gilmore; and How to Collaborate with other Bloggers. All three very different and equally fun to write!
I know we all know Christmas is in a WEEK, but do we realize Christmas is IN A WEEK? Why does normal time go by so slowly, but the holidays go by so quickly? It makes me sad. I’ve tried to soak it up the past few days since I’m finally feeling like a human being again.
Earlier this week, Emily shared that she and her husband do nightly dates the week before Christmas: coffee, dinner, a show, etc., and I thought that was the coolest idea ever. I introduced the idea to J on Monday night and luckily he was on board! But being that it’s Christmas and we want to buy a new house and I just bought a new car and we need a new roof, outlandish date nights are just not happening. So on Monday night, we bought Christmas beer, cooked dinner, and watched Home Alone. Tuesday we went to dinner and tried a couple more seasonal beers. Wednesday I made dinner, we watched the Grinch, and I made this amazing Stovetop Christmas Potpourri to fill the house with a wonderful holiday scent. Thursday night we watched our friend’s band, and tonight we’re going to watch my niece in her first dance recital. Nothing crazy, just enjoying the season!
To keep with the list theme, here are a few ways to enjoy the next week! *Note: you may find many of these options include booze. If you’ve been around here long, you’re not surprised.
Create a Christmas-themed beer tasting at home. There’s Christmas ales and gingerbread beers and cranberry shandy. So good. God, I love seasonal beers.
Get all dolled up and go out to a nice restaurant for dessert. Are you always too full for dessert? Eat a light dinner at home and splurge on some sweets (or nice bottle of wine!) at a fancy restaurant!
Watch a new (to you) Christmas movie. Sunday night we watched Bad Santa. It was depraved and non-traditional… but I laughed the entire time.
Watch an old favorite in bed with wine and popcorn. What’s your favorite Christmas movie? I swear I love them all.
Thanks for the cute graphic, Casper!
Drive around your town and look at lights. I will never outgrow my love for Christmas lights (except when our neighbors leave them up until April…).
Drink some coffee (with a splash of Baileys or bourbon!) in front of the tree. I hate when the tree comes down. Anyone else? I plan on spending as much time as possible in front of it this week!
I usually love decorating but this month has been rough. I have a few decorations on the tree and filled an unused wire waste basket from Target with ornaments. Done.
Create a cocoa bar. Did you see Anne’s cocoa bar this week? The most festive idea!
Watch a Christmas episode of your favorite show.
Make your house smell like Christmas. I tried a stove top potpourri in lieu of candles this week and it put me in the most festive mood!
What’s on your agenda this weekend/next week? I’d love to hear some ideas!
