Happy Friday! I will be working from home today because of the snow! I’ve never been able to work from home- any tips for staying on task (and out of the bourbon)?
Some life updates:
We’ve spent a lot of time in the house the past few weeks, trying to get over sickness and avoiding the frigid weather. I still have a nasty cough and have yet to get over my congestion (what?!) so we’re in desperate need of some warmth and sunshine! Instead, we have been cleaning and organizing. I am a neat freak but sickness and life have caused things to get out of hand. We spent the last two weekends going through closets and old purses and packing up shoes and clothes to send to Goodwill. I’m ashamed to show this, but here’s a before picture of one of my closets:
And here’s an after:
It still needs LOTS of work. We’re thinking of having someone add some more shelves so I can store all of my shoes. Unfortunately the majority are still in baskets!
And I organized my makeup:
J and I are both loving the Try This At Home Series from Sheryl at How to Make a Life. We’re being intentional about keeping the house tidy and I am thrilled. I’m much less stressed in a neat home!
Terrarium/Fairy Garden Kit
I ordered this amazing terrarium kit on Amazon mainly for the moss. I bought succulents at our local greenhouse and their moss was $30! But, this kit also came with soil, rocks, charcoal, and four plants: all for $14! I am pumped to work on my terrarium while we’re snowed in all weekend. I am embarrassed by the level of my excitement.
I had vowed to not spend a lot on makeup this year but that went to hell pretty quickly last week. I’ve had a crappy couple of weeks so I treated myself to some products at Sephora then took a lunch trip to Ulta with my coworkers. I can never turn down Ulta and Starbucks lunch breaks. I picked up the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer, YSL Touche Eclat Strobing Light Mega Highlighter, and Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation. I do not normally buy such pricey products and look forward to sharing some reviews soon!
Target has been killing it lately! I bought the above glass makeup organizer in-store and am so in love. I bought the last one and cannot find it online! I’d love to have another. I also picked up office supplies, a chambray dress, and three pairs of heels (which I got for $30!). Budgeting going well…
I’m sure most of you have heard of and/or watched “Making a Murderer.” I am obsessed with it, of course, and have fallen down the rabbit hole of theories floating around online. But THIS theory is probably my favorite. While it might not seem plausible, I think it makes some legitimate points!
On a side note, I am so ready for new shows to start. Jane the Virgin will be back Monday, hopefully Mindy will return soon, and February brings American Crime Story and 11.22.63, followed by House of Cards in March. Television is the greatest invention of our time.
Also, we witnessed a fight between two people in line at Rite Aid last night. Everyone in the store was buying alcohol and tensions were high. The panic before a big weather event is unintentionally hilarious.
What were you loving this week? Stay safe during winter storm Jonas(?)! Hope you’re stocked up on wine! 😉
