Finally Friday! I hope you’ve all had a great week. We got our dishwasher fixed and it’s going to be 60 and sunny here this weekend so I’m feeling cheery. Spring is just around the corner, right?
In case you haven’t heard, Fuller House is coming to Netflix February 26. I’m a little excited. I love how Netflix is rebooting so many shows: Wet Hot American Summer (I know it was a movie), Full House, Gilmore Girls- who knows where they’ll go next! I admit they’re tugging at my nostalgic heartstrings. My siblings and I grew up watching Full House and I still watch it, though now mainly for glimpses of John Stamos. And honestly, I miss the wholesomeness of TGIF (even if my thoughts about Uncle Jesse aren’t so wholesome…). Everything we watch is so graphic and ridiculous and I think this will be refreshing.
Full House is pretty corny. And the writers didn’t pay a lot of attention to logic. But there were some good, heartwarming episodes that I cant’t help but love! Plus, it spawned some of the greatest catchphrases of the 90s: “You got it, dude!” “Cut. It. Out.” “Have mercy!” and, my personal favorite, “How rude!” If you’re stuck inside this weekend, take some time to binge-watch a few of my favorites:
Our Very First Show
Our Very First Night
Luck be a Lady: gosh, it’s sad when Becky and Jesse decide to not get married in Vegas. We know how it turns out but damn it, I can’t take Uncle Jesse’s crestfallen face.
The Wedding (Parts 1 and 2): Aunt Becky is one lucky lady, indeed.
Fuller House: the family, especially Michelle, is upset when Uncle Jesse moves in with Aunt Becky. There’s nothing else to say- I’ll just leave you with this:
The Hole in the Wall Gang: this is a favorite because one: Danny’s closet organization makes me cry and two: I once had a party when my parents were out of town and a friend busted a hole in our basement wall. I will forever credit this episode for enabling me to patch it before my parents returned from their trip. Girl power!
Rock the Cradle: Becky tells Jesse she’s pregnant in a super adorable way.
Matchmaker Michelle: she’s the worst, but it’s sweet when she tries to hook Danny up with her teacher.
Happy Birthday, Babies (Parts 1 and 2): It’s unrealistic, cliche’, and a bit silly, but I love when Nicky and Alex are born! And Fred Flinstone never looked so good…
The House Meets the Mouse (Parts 1 and 2): The crew visits Disney!
The Perfect Couple: yes, I cry at this episode. Danny and Vicky break up because she gets a job in New York. I hope they bring her back for the reboot! She was the best. As an adult, I’ve realized there is a lot of feminist-themes in the show, like Vicky choosing her career over love. I like the message.
Love on the Rocks: DJ and Steve break up. It’s a very adult decision and really a beautiful episode. I love her independence!
A House Divided: everyone complains that the house is too small (you think?). Kimmy is hilarious in this episode!
Under the Influence: sad and heartwarming- DJ and Kimmy attend a college party and things do not end well. Their lifelong friendship is the best.
Michelle Rides Again (Series Finale): the finale is too Michelle-centered in my opinion. But! Steve (aka Aladdin. I miss the 90s.) returns to take DJ to prom.
