Now that Blogging Basics has ended, I would like to dedicate at least a couple of Wednesdays a month to beauty tips. Anything you’d like to see? I have lots of ideas but love hearing from everyone!
Winter dulls everything, including my skin. Because of that, I switch up my products this time of year. I’m always changing my routine and love the one I’m currently using.
Smashbox Primer Oil: I got a teeny sample of this is last month’s Ipsy and wish I hadn’t because now I want the full-size… and it’s pretty expensive. I love how this product serves as both a moisturizer and a primer- who doesn’t love a two-in-one product in the morning? My skin craves moisture in winter which this definitely provides, plus, it dries quickly, allowing me to apply makeup almost immediately.
L’Oreal Age Perfect Glow: before I received the Smashbox product, I’d been using this every morning. It’s much cheaper and as effective, though it takes longer to sink in and doesn’t function as a primer. It does make my skin incredibly glowy!
Stila Aqua Glow Serum foundation: this is the best foundation I’ve ever used, though it’s more appropriate during the winter than it would be in the humid summer months. I prefer a matte foundation during those times. The foundation is lightweight, buildable, goes on smooth, and leaves your skin dewy and fresh. If you like cakey, matte foundation, this product is not for you. I’ve had several co-workers and J ask what I’m doing differently, and I swear it’s this foundation. A couple of caveats: the applicator is a dropper, which I don’t love. It can be messy if you drop too much on your face. It’s also pricey- I’m not sure I would pay full-price for it (snagged it for 50% off using Ulta points). This product is remarkably better, but if you want a budget-friendly option, check out L’Oreal’s Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup.
*Please ignore my super scratched nails. I’m a polish picker and biter… good Lord, now I’m embarrassed. I promise they don’t always look like garbage!
Mario Badescu Facial Spray: While I’m addicted to Urban Decay’s setting spray during high humidity, this is PERFECT for the cold, dry months. It quenches dehydrated skin and gives you a rosy glow while keeping your makeup in place. The best part? It’s only $7!
Benefit High Beam: when I decluttered my makeup stash earlier this year, I found a small bottle of this pink highlighter. If you’ve been reading long, you know highlighter is my favorite beauty product and I forgot how much I loved High Beam! Liquid highlighter is great when your skin is dry: powder clings to dry patches.
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage: One of the easiest ways to combat dull skin is with concealer. I recently purchased Secret Camouflage and love it for blemishes, dark spots, and the under-eye area!
I meant to take a few pictures of my face for proof that I wear makeup and do exist. I’m working on my selfie game- it’s hard with a big DSLR.
Have you tried any of these products? How do you fight dull skin?
