Is that a clickbait title?
I’m not the person to ask when it comes to blog tips, but a few people have inquired about the “Click to Tweet” prompt I’ve added to my posts and thought I’d share.
As always, I do not subscribe to the “create shareable content” philosophy. What does that even mean? Isn’t that objective? We all have different topics that interest us. I once had a blogger leave lovely comments on a few of my posts, and, when I went to check out her blog, there were pictures of her spreading her butt cheeks in the nude. You know what? People were reading (and loving) her blog. Don’t ever let anyone dull your sparkle.
Using Click to Tweet (and variations): this WordPress plugin makes tweeting a link SO. EASY.
Once you download the “Click to Tweet” plugin, it will live on your dashboard:
After that, it’s super simple.
Click the bird icon and enter your desired message and your Twitter username in the pop-up:
Click “OK” and you’re on your way!
Once completed correctly, you will see similar code within your post:
You can control where the “Click to Tweet” box appears in your post by placing your cursor at the desired location before selecting the bird icon. I typically add it at the end of my posts.
Truthfully, my shares have increased significantly since adding “Click to Tweet.” I’m not a person who says those kinds of things, but it has been a huge help. And, as someone who primarily reads from my phone, I get excited when I see it on other blogs. I don’t even have to leave the site to share a post! I always struggle thinking of messages to accompany articles I share on Twitter and this functionality takes the guesswork out of it for me – the blogger has already provided their message and username!
