TGIF! How was your week?
Our week was MUCH better than the last few. We still have air so that’s really all that matters, right? I had a rough day at work Wednesday but J took me to a restaurant that specializes in small plates and wine flights. After a “Daisy Buchanan” flight, things seemed better, you know?
In my goals post, I mentioned that I wanted to start devoting Thursday nights to online classes. Then all hell broke loose. We were in a online class that got me a new job immediately making $13,000 more a year. I’m not saying that to brag – simply to say that investing in yourself pays off.
Luckily, there are thousands of FREE online classes out there that will benefit you! I’ve rounded up a few that I want to try:
Codecademy: not a course, exactly, but this site offers many free classes, including an introduction to HTML, Java, and how to make a website. The pro subscription offers more, but it’s a great way to dip your toe in!
Alison Diploma in Social Marketing: I could use all the social media help I can get. This course discusses blogging, podcasting, Twitter, Facebook, and more!
Photoshop: the OG of the photo-editing world. I know enough about Photoshop to be dangerous, but it’s the best for a reason. Time to up our photography game!
Design and Make Infographics: Coursera is a fantastic source for free classes, and this particular course looks especially interesting! I’ll be designing pie charts (and getting an intervention) like Marshall Eriksen in no time…
Secret Sauce of Great Writing: Udemy is another great site – I recently took their informative $10 course on web development. Because I write professionally and as a hobby, I could use all the help I can get! 🙂 This particular course will give you skills in blogging, PR, and copy writing.
Have you taken any of these courses or can you suggest any favorite free courses for the rest of us?
Hope you have a great weekend!
