As I sit in our 85 degree house, I realize my first goal should be to find a hotel until our HVAC is replaced. But I digress…
I’m not big on sharing goals, mainly because I never set any. 😉 But I told myself I needed to hit the ground running after vacation, and I think it’s sometimes better to share for solidarity and advice. Maybe I’ll accomplish more if I put them out there?
I want to work on some kind of editorial calendar. I’m a scheduled person, but enjoy writing what I want to write when I want to write it. However, a little organization would do me some good.
I’ve decided to make Thursdays my “learning night” – take an hour to learn a new skill, whether it be Photoshop, code, blog design, photography, or Tech Writing software. I think I can spare an hour a week!
Time-blocking: I often wonder where the night goes… and I’ve realized it goes to me sitting on the couch, getting caught up with The Real Housewives and Instagram. I need to set aside time for blogging/working, and see where I go from there.
OOF. We’ve traveled a lot the past few months and my account is feeling the squeeze, especially since we came home to a busted AC. It didn’t help that I spent a lot during the N Sale. But I have to budget. I’m set for my fall wardrobe and makeup so aside from basic skincare products there’s nothing I need. I’ve decided to cut back on three things: shopping, going out, and our grocery bill. My closet and makeup bag overfloweth. We go out a few times a month and it’s nothing for me to spend $50 on lunch. And groceries? I buy a lot of junk and beer. The minimalist lifestyle is looking better and better.
Any advice on budgeting software or any program that’s worked for you?
I need to lose about 20-30 pounds. All in my butt. Working out is not an issue for me – it’s food. And beer. I’m also a mindless snacker, especially at the office. I do great with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s the in-between when I screw up. I tried Weight Watchers (just the app, no meetings) and it worked well for me! I lost 10 pounds by simply tracking my food. I’m currently using MyFitnessPal and it doesn’t do the same thing for me. I need to get back on track, especially after vacation.
I’m also switching up my workout routine. For the past year I’ve done BeachBody OnDemand. But they kept removing more and more of my favorite workouts and I decided I could find similar programs on YouTube for free. I’m also debating the Amanda Bisk program. I’m a little turned off because the workouts take only around 20 minutes. I completed two days of the 7 day trial and had to do each workout twice to feel like I accomplished anything.
Have you tried Amanda Bisk? Or have other suggestions?
I had a major meltdown before vacation over the state of our house. Our kitchen cabinets and closets are disaster zones. We have a million Tupperware containers. I have a hundred pairs of shoes I never wear. Junky t-shirts and underwear with holes. There are no less than 30 Miller Lite and Blue Moon boxes in our garage. And I. Have. Had. It. Again, the minimalist lifestyle gives me all the heart eyes.
Things pile up, don’t they?
Have you purged your home? Any tips or programs to follow? The thought intimidates me to the point I thought of hiring outside help. But see above – I’m trying to budget. This should be interesting.
Obviously I don’t intend on accomplishing these goals in August – rather, these are goals for the rest of the year. Sometimes you need a vacation to help you focus and buckle down.
What are your monthly goals?
