I should have posted this yesterday, no?
I get the Sunday night blues every week. Please ignore my sloppy blog editing Friday: I did not get a new job. So I’m still struggling. I get a little weepy come Sunday afternoon but have tweaked a few things to make the weekend end on a pleasant note.
Here are a few things to do Sunday night and Monday morning to start your week on the right foot:
Take a bath. Have a glass (or bottle #safespace) of wine. Unplug. Read. Go to bed early. Try to spend your evening relaxing! I actually took a bath with lavender oil yesterday while wearing a face mask and it was heavenly! I also love Lush bath bombs – they can’t be beat!
Clean and prep.
Spending your Sunday cleaning and prepping meals doesn’t sound fun, but you’ll be grateful come Monday morning! I always deep-clean my bathroom and change my sheets on Sundays. And I meal prep my breakfast and lunch for the week. Clean sheets help with the Sunday night anxiety and I love that I don’t have to think about what I’m going to have for breakfast Monday morning, I always clean with a cold drink in hand to make it a Sunday Funday. 😉 Truthfully Monday is much less stressful if it doesn’t begin with dishes in the sink and an overflowing garbage can.
Start a tradition that excites you.
Make a nice dinner with your family or friends on Sunday or start a new show. We’re big on our Sunday night shows: we’ve watched Mad Men, The Affair, Boardwalk Empire, Masters of Sex, and currently watching Ray Donovan and The Night Of. Winding down with a program we both love makes me look forward to Sunday evening.
Switch up your morning routine.
If you work out in the morning, try something new. If you don’t work out in the morning, why not start? Try a new coffee. Experiment with your makeup. Listen to a song that puts you in a good mood. Start a new podcast. Take time to journal. Or watch something on Netflix instead of the news. I started watching Gilmore Girls and Friends about six months ago instead of my local newscast and I SWEAR it’s made a huge difference in my morning moods!
Stop by Starbucks or your favorite breakfast spot for a Monday morning treat. It might not be the healthiest option, but, you have all week to make up for it!
How do you get ready for the week? Anything you do differently on Mondays? Here’s to a great week!
