You knew this post was coming.
Four 90-minute episodes of Gilmore Girls will be released Friday. Thankfully I’m off work that day and can binge each one while I munch on Thanksgiving leftovers. I’ll be drinking coffee and Ms. Patty’s punch all day. God bless America.
I could make this an exhaustive list, but we only have a few free hours this week so I’ll remain calm(ish).
The Lorelais First Day at Chilton: The second episode of the series (and self-explanatory).
Rory’s Birthday Parties: Rory’s 16th birthday. Emily and Richard make a cameo!
Rory’s Dance: Dean and Rory go to a dance at Chilton… and all hell breaks loose.
Love, Daisies, and Troubadours: Lorelai and Max get engaged!
Red Light on the Wedding Night: Lorelai ditches her wedding to Max.
The Road Trip to Harvard: Lorelai and Rory go to Harvard instead of dealing with the broken engagement.
Nick & Nora/Sid & Nancy: Jess(!) comes to live with Luke.
The Ins and Outs of Inns: Lorelai and Sookie decide to move forward with their plans to open an inn, and Mia lets them know of her plans to sell. Emily meets Mia for the first time and learns about Rory’s first years.
The Bracebridge Dinner: Richard quits his job without telling Emily. Lorelai and Sookie invite their friends and family to the Inn and Jess starts to get between Dean and Rory.
Lorelai’s Graduation Day: Lorelai graduates from business school. One of my favorite episodes (though it’s when I really started to dislike Rory).
I Can’t Get Started: So much happens in the season finale! Sookie and Jackson get married, Christopher learns Sherry is pregnant, and Rory and Jess kiss!
Eight O’Clock at the Oasis: Jon Hamm. Enough said.
They Shoot Gilmores, Don’t They? The dance marathon episode- another of my favorites! Also Dean breaks up with Rory. Who saw that coming?
A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving: A perfectly-timed episode. Lorelai and Rory attend four Thanksgivings in one day. And Sookie gets drunk. Drunk Sookie is the best!
The Big One: Sookie finds out she’s pregnant and Paris has a meltdown after not getting into Harvard. This episode always makes me cry!
A Tale of Poes and Fire: The Independence Inn catches fire. Rory decides to go to Yale!
Those are Strings, Pinocchio: Rory graduates Chilton and Lorelai buys The Dragonfly. Another favorite that’s always guaranteed to make me cry! Rory’s speech is the best.
The Lorelais’ First Day at Yale: Rory moves into Yale. Such a sweet episode that reminds me of moving into my dorm!
The Festival of Living Art: So much. Sebastian Bach joins the crew as Hep Alien’s guitarist. Sookie goes into labor.
Ted Koppel’s Big Night Out: Lorelai and Digger’s first date. Emily and Richard’s relationship begins to unravel when she realizes he’s been having lunch with his ex (WTF).
In the Clamor and the Clangor: Lane finally reveals her secret life to her mother. Luke and Lorelai make up when they decide to destroy the church bells. Another favorite for me!
The Reigning Lorelai: Trix dies and Emily uncovers a secret that send her into a tailspin.
Raincoats and Recipes: Emily and Richard admit they’re separated. Rory and Dean sleep together (barf). Lorelai and Luke FINALLY start dating! Another great season finale.
A Messenger, Nothing More: Rory and Emily return from their trip to Europe. Lane starts to fall for Zack. Lindsay kicks Dean out of their house.
Written in the Stars: Luke and Lorelai’s official first date!
Norman Mailer, I’m Pregnant! A packed episode! Sookie realizes she’s pregnant again. Sherry leaves Christopher. Rory tells Christopher to stay away from Lorelai.
You Jump, I Jump, Jack: Zack and Lane start dating. Rory has a weekend with the Life and Death Brigade.
The Party’s Over: Emily and Richard join forces when they realize Rory is dating Dean and throw a Yale alumni party. Dean and Rory break up.
Wedding Bell Blues: A big episode! Emily and Richard renew their vows. Rory and Logan kiss.
So… Good Talk: Luke and Lorelai get back together.
Blame Booze and Melville: Rory gets surprising news from Logan’s dad and flips her shit.
A House is Not a Home: Rory drops out of Yale. Lorelai proposes to Luke!
Fight Face: Luke tells Rory he and Lorelai are engaged.
We’ve Got Magic To Do: Emily confronts Logan’s mom. And it’s priceless.
Twenty-One is the Loneliest Number: Rory turns 21.
Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out: Jess returns and hits Rory with some TRUTH. #blondedickatYale
The Prodigal Daughter Returns: Lorelai and Rory finally make up! Garbage person April Nardini visits Luke’s Diner, blowing his mind.
Just Like Gwen and Gavin: Lorelai finds out Luke has a daughter… but doesn’t hear it from him.
I Get a Sidekick Out of You: Lane and Zack get married!
Partings: Lorelai asks Luke to elope and he’s an asshole about it.
I hate this season. Hate it. I only suggest watching the series finale so you can see where things left off, though I’ve heard they don’t make much mention of it in the new episodes…
Um. That’s about 40 hours worth of episodes. A work week. Good luck to you!
Tell me: what are your favorite episodes? Are you as excited as I am about the revival? Here’s to a great, short week!
