Cheers to Friday! Who is ready for a festive weekend?
We have a dinner party tonight and tomorrow we’re going to Louisville for our annual Christmas Carol weekend. I look forward to it every year! And then a four day week next week before I’m off work for ELEVEN days. Thank you, Lord.
One thing I love this time of year is all the sparkle. I have always been drawn to sequins and shine, but, now that I’m sort of an adult, I want sparkle that’s a little more grown-up. I’m sure you have at least one event in the coming weeks, so here are a few ideas on livening up your look:
Eye makeup: I love playing with eye makeup this time of year. These Essence eye shadows are awesome quality and only $1.99! They’re shimmery and creamy and super pigmented. I picked up Snowflake (perfect for Christmas and makes a great highlighter, too!) and three other shades in store at Ulta. I’ve also been wearing Milani’s eye shadow in Bella Champagne a lot this season – it makes for a gorgeous crease shade!
Lipstick: A metallic or shimmery lip is a great way to dress up an otherwise neutral outfit. I’d had my eye on this Stila Stay All Day Matte Metal lipstick in Sirene’ for months and finally pulled the trigger when I got a 20% off coupon from Ulta. This Milani metallic lip creme’ in Pretty Problematic is a little bolder, but still gorgeous and festive!
Highlighter: My favorite makeup product really shines (get it?) this time of year! You know my favorite palettes, but one I didn’t mention in Wednesday’s post is Stila’s Star Light, Star Bright highlighting palette. This product works much better at night as it’s insanely shimmery (not that that’s a bad thing!). It would look gorgeous under Christmas lights!
Jewelry: Almost all of my clothing is black, but I’m a believer in fancying it up with a pair of statement earrings. These are perfect for parties as they’re too heavy to wear for long periods of time. Slip on a black dress paired with these babies and you have an outfit! I’m partial to these tassel earrings from BaubleBar and anything from Sole Society or Kate Spade.
Accessories: A sparkly scarf, shoes, or clutch can also be paired with a simple outfit for a dose of glam. I’ve had a sequined scarf from Gap for over 10 years and it’s still one of my holiday staples!
How do you shine during the holidays? I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
