Kentucky has been blessed with gorgeous spring-like weather lately. J was out of town yesterday and the sun was shining so I took the opportunity to deep-clean the house. Am I the only one who loves to clean house? Nothing like a good spring cleaning!
Aside from my normal Sunday cleaning, I added a few extras:
Descaled the Keurig with vinegar.
Washed all the pillows and rugs.
Disinfected all the doorknobs.
Ran the toothbrush holder through the dishwasher.
Scrubbed all the doors (#freak).
But then I started thinking of all the things I could do to spring clean my life. We all see a new year as a clean slate, and it is, but to me, spring is all about renewal. So what can we do to get ready for it?
The 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge. I started this yesterday by cleaning two bags of clothes out of my closet to donate and de-cluttering my bathroom and office. Three bags down! You don’t have to do it all at once, of course – spreading it out over 40 days makes it seem less intimidating. I don’t think we’ll have any issue getting 40 bags!
Emptying your inbox. About once a year I delete ALL of my emails. I’m always nervous I’m going to delete something important, but, I’ve yet to delete anything I couldn’t live without.
Unsubscribe from emails. One of my money traps is falling for sales emails from my favorite stores. While you’re cleaning up your inbox, why not unsubscribe from undesired emails?
Cleaning up your diet. This is certainly the season of fresh food, and if you’re working on your diet like me, this is the perfect time of year to get started! Empty your pantry and fridge of “fake” food, and fill your home with natural, healthy alternatives. We’re already making strides on this and I feel great.
Update your wardrobe. I’m making a huge dent in my closet clutter, but I’ve also picked up a few new pieces for the coming season. There are lots of fun trends for spring!
Clean out your social media. Spending some time unplugging, deleting social media apps from your phone (so they’re not huge time sucks!), and unfriending/unfollowing those that don’t bring you joy can add a lot of time and happiness back into you life.
What are some ways you’re going to spring clean your life this year?
