I am happy(ish) to be back from our trip to HHI! Thankful I made the brilliant decision to take off today, too, so I can relax and get caught up on everything before another crazy work week begins. I highly suggest taking a vacation day AFTER vacation to unwind and prepare.
J and I left for Hilton Head early on the 21st so we could stay with my sister and brother-in-law that night. They moved to Okatie, SC (right off the island) last year so we were thankful to begin vacation a day early and have a free place to stay. 🙂 We made great time and arrived in time for dinner, drinks, and exploration of nearby Bluffton, SC. We opted for drinks at the coolest bar/restaurant – the Old Town Dispensary. If you’re ever in the area, I highly suggest a visit!
The rest of my family drove overnight and arrived in Okatie early Saturday morning. We met for breakfast then headed to the beach for a gorgeous and crowd-free day.
The week consisted of hanging on the beach, in the pool, and eating good food. The company was amazing, too. We had a couple of rainy days, but made the best of it by playing games and exploring new restaurants. I enjoyed walking to the beach with my sweet niece and drinking coffee on the balcony with my parents. And it’s always fun when all four Latimer siblings are reunited.
We even managed to stay awake late enough one night to make it to line dancing Wednesday at Poseidon. If you saw my Instagram stories, you know it was… interesting.
Walking around Shelter Cove.
We are blessed that we’re able to do this at least once a year, and that we actually enjoy spending time with each other. Can’t wait to do it again soon.
This child is pure joy.
Dinner at Skull Creek Boathouse. The views alone are worth it!
Our favorite dinner was at Black Marlin. Now that my sister is a local she can fill us in on all the good restaurants! The food was delicious and it was cool enough to sit outside. The weather was comfortable all week – you’re lucky if it’s under 90 degrees in South Carolina in July!
Balcony time with my girl.
It was one of the best trips ever, and we’ve been going to HHI for almost 20 years! I ate too much, drank too much, and got too much sun; but that’s what vacation is all about, right? I also treated myself to a much-needed social media break so I’ll be playing catchup this week. Hope you have a great Monday!
Have you been to Hilton Head? How was your weekend?
