Thank goodness it’s Friday. Seriously. I had the most hectic week at work and in life and am ready to relax with some wine this weekend. Anyone else?
I had several people ask questions about oils after I shared my favorite blend in last week’s Amazon post. I am in no way an expert, but I love discovering new products and uses for oils. There are lots of resources out there, and one of my favorites so far has been Hello Glow. It’s a beautiful book filled with tons of ideas.
I bought a starter kit from YoungLiving back in the spring, but also purchase oils off Amazon – particularly for diffusing. I have also purchased TriEase Seasonal Blend Softgels for my allergies from doTERRA. I’m not partial to any particular brand and am not 100% committed to them like others. I’d like to live a more natural lifestyle, but I still believe in medicine. And bleach.
For all my experimenting, here are my favorite oil accessories:
Diffuser: I use this diffuser in our bedroom and I do think it works best for small rooms. I diffuse lavender at bedtime and will usually do a citrus blend if I’m cleaning house. I also love a mix of spearmint and eucalyptus on nights we’re just hanging out at home. I don’t use the light, normally, but it is a fun feature. I received a larger diffuser with my YoungLiving starter kit and we use that in our living room.
Fractionated Coconut Oil: Fractionated coconut oil is a carrier oil that you use in conjunction with essential oils. How many times can I say “oil” in one sentence? Three. Anyway – I typically don’t apply essential oils directly to my skin: I create blends using this fractionated coconut oil and mix in a few drops of the desired essential oil. I will do a separate post on my favorite rollerball blends down the road. This coconut oil also makes a great moisturizer. I used it after I got too much sun on vacation and I think it kept me from peeling. It can be a little heavy for every day use, but it’s especially great for dry patches.
Rollerballs: Speaking of rollerballs… these are my favorites. They’re inexpensive and easy to assemble. And if you’re a little more ambitious and want to create creams and lotions, I love these glass bottles with lids. If nothing else, they look gorgeous sitting on my bathroom counter.
Glass Spray Bottles: Since purchasing these pretty blue bottles, I’ve created fabric refresher spray and nighttime linen spray. I’ll be ordering more soon!
Bottle Labels: I have to keep track of my concoctions! This set comes with 90 stickers in various shapes and sizes.
Have you jumped on the oils train? What are your favorite oil accessories? Have a great weekend!
