Happy Monday! Hope you all had the best weekend. I had all kinds of plans this weekend but ended up doing nothing. Damn allergies! I have been on a decluttering spree and continued that, but otherwise relaxed in preparation of a long week and a music festival Saturday and Sunday!
I’ve always struggled to find foundations and primers that worked for me. I have large pores and suffer from dry skin in the winter and oily skin in summer. I feel like I can never get it “right”, but think I’ve finally stumbled upon some fantastic products that work for my pesky combination skin.
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: This primer does a great job of combatting oily skin without making it dry. It’s pricier than I’d normally buy, but I started with the smaller version (only $19), and a little goes a long way!
NARS Smooth & Protect Primer: My absolute go-to, especially for the warmer months. It provides the perfect matte base, controls shine, and protects with SPF 50.
MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone Treatment: I’m addicted to MAC’s Prep + Prime lip primer, so I had to try this as well. It provides a smooth, matte base and does a good job of covering pores. I wore this over the weekend and my foundation survived the hot weather and a nap – is there any better test?
Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: Is this as great as the aforementioned primers? No. But if you’re on a budget, it’s the one for you. It’s by far the best drugstore primer I’ve tried.
Estee’ Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup: My holy grail foundation. It provides excellent coverage without being heavy and works with my combination skin. My shade is 1N2 Ecru.
No7 Stay Perfect Foundation: This is my everyday foundation. It’s medium-coverage and a product I prefer during the summer months. It also has SPF 15, making it perfect for days you’ll be outside. The best part? It’s under $15. My shade is Cool Ivory.
Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation: If you have oily skin and want lightweight coverage, this is a good option for you. It’s the least heavy of all my favorite foundations and stays in place all day. To apply, I spray it on my beauty blender instead of directly on my face. Otherwise you’ll have a mess on your hands (and you clothes, and hair, and your entire house). My shade is Light.
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream: While this is considered a CC cream, you can wear it alone. I prefer this product in winter because it’s hydrating – if you have oily skin year-round, this isn’t the best option for you! It provides moisture, is medium-coverage, anti-aging, and contains SPF 50. I will never be without this in my makeup bag. My shade is Light.
Now it’s your turn: what are your favorite primers? Foundations? And have you tried any of these products?
