Over the weekend, my sister asked me to help her pick out some makeup. I suggested going to Sephora, but she insisted she could get a lot more bang for her buck if we bought drugstore products instead. I think there’s a lot of truth to that: while I haven’t found a drugstore equivalent to my beloved Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer or NARS concealer, everything else can be bought in a drugstore, for a fraction of the price.
Here were my suggestions:
Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: The only drugstore primer I’ve ever used that I like! It’s great for the price.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation: This foundation is light-to-medium coverage and provides a natural finish. I use it during the cold months when my skin is drier.
L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara and Primer: I wear this combo every day and swear by it! Walmart actually packages and sells the two products together, which is a steal! You can get both for under $10.
Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer: The best bronzer ever. Plus the scent will get you through these cold months! It always reminds me of summer.
Milani Baked Blush: Comparable to many high-end blushes and they have a great color selection.
NYX Matte Liquid Eye Liner: I’ve tried several eye liners throughout the years – higher-end brands like Chanel and Stila, to drugstore brands like elf and L’Oreal. However, this is the absolute best, and it’s under $10. It goes on easily, stays put all day, and one bottle lasts forever.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder: Another go-to for me. Again, I’ve tried high and low-end brands of setting powders, but this is my favorite. And it’s under $6.
NYX Lipstick: I condensed my lipstick collection to 36 shades (I know) and the majority come from NYX. I continue to go back to them because the quality and color selection are unmatched. I wear Chanel and YSL and Charlotte Tilbury and nothing compares to the lasting ability of this product. My current favorites are their matte lipstick in Merlot and the Pin Up lipstick in Bombshell.
NYX Lip Liners: Do you sense a theme here? I adore NYX. Their liners are fantastic and crazy inexpensive, especially when you consider the quality.
By the way, Ulta currently has NYX products buy one, get one 50% off. It’s the perfect time to stock up!
Elf Instant Lift Brow Pencil: This is my sister’s suggestion. I’m pretty partial to MAC or Benefit brow products, but I ALWAYS ask what she’s using on her brows because they’re phenomenal. It’s this $2 pencil! I will be picking one up soon.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel: I want to buy this moisturizer for everyone I know. It feels so good on your skin and it’s perfect under makeup.
I’m trying to cut back on beauty and makeup purchases but I’m always experimenting. Do you have a drugstore product you love? Share with me below!
