Another long week is behind us! We have a busy weekend again, but I’m looking forward to it! Hoping to also finish my Christmas shopping and have a few festive cocktails. Tis the season, right?
We have tons of events from November through January and I never know what to wear. I’ve always been an over-dresser, often arriving to parties looking out of place. I once attended a wedding wearing the same color as the bridesmaids (unintentionally), and it was all too much. I’m not good at “reading the room” or event. I’m not a subtle person.
But I’ve definitely mellowed. I’ve put my sky-high heels in storage. Uncomfortable, tight dresses and skirts are pushed to the back of my closet. Instead, I now opt for sensible shoes and comfortable clothing, and punch up the look with a statement earring and lip. I love those of you who can still rock the stilettos and fancy outfits, but those days are few and far between for me. But I haven’t given up.
I’ve rounded up some dresses and outfits (some that are in my cart!) that will be perfect for holiday functions: from the office, to date nights, to parties, and everything in between.

Feather Hem Sweatshirt Dress: When you want to be fancy but don’t want to wear Spanx. I currently have this in my Nordstrom cart. I know it’s expensive (I am generally super cheap when it comes to clothes), but, I can see this being an outfit I’d wear for years. Feathers never really go out of style, right? This would be a great NYE dress.
Tier Sleeve Sweatshirt Dress: Another look with sweatshirt in the title. I love how the ruffle sleeves dress it up a bit.
Tie Back Bell Sleeve Sweater Dress: The back of this dress sold me. Look at it! The perfect, classic detail!
Faux Leather Leggings: I live in leggings this time of year, but, if you want to look like you put in a little effort, swap them out for faux leather leggings. These are under $20 and really comfortable! They’re perfect with an oversized sweater and booties.
Side Slit Cowl Neck Tunic: I own this in black and wear it all the time (wearing it as we speak, in fact). It’s flattering, lightweight, and soft. I actually wore it with leather leggings to a holiday party last year. You look put together without feeling restricted. Would also look great with jeans and boots!
And, for good measure, a few of my favorite statement earrings:
Statement Thread Tassel Chandelier Earrings in Red and Green (I own both of these – they’re well-made and under $12)
